Troy Villani
Brisbane State High School
Beginning teacher Troy Villani has a passion for technology and teaching.
Troy is in the running to be awarded the 2017 QCT Excellence in Beginning to Teach Award. In collaboration with an Apple Development Executive and his colleague, Troy has implemented Swift Playgrounds, an interactive Apple app that makes learning coding fun, within Junior Digital technologies subjects at the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) school. In addition to this, he has created a fantastic digital presence in his classroom, where students are encouraged to utilise digital technology in their learning and problem solving of more difficult concepts. |
Troy’s ability to “chunk and chew” content to break it down to more manageable and relatable segments is what drives the exceptional results of his students.
He draws on a wealth of industry experience to create cross-curricular lessons of Maths and IPT subjects to address the differentiated needs of students. “Troy has an ambitious attitude when it comes to teaching, often trialling new ways to deliver content to junior years,” a nominator says. “As a beginning teacher, Troy has a fantastic attitude towards the profession and a commitment to lifelong learning.” He clearly articulates goals and plans for his own professional learning through a comprehensive performance plan, and consistently seeks learning opportunities outside the school.
Troy is currently exploring the QCT iTunesU Digital Portfolios to reflect on his teaching journey. Congratulations Troy on your nomination. |
