Tony Finney
Cooloola Christian College
Tony Finney is drawing on new technologies to help students reengage with mathematics and boost their marks.
The Cooloola Christian College teacher has developed his very own online computer lab that students can access from home. “Tony is an innovator who ensures students have regular access to learning outside usual class hours,” Principal Trevor Norman said. His determination to extend not only gifted children but children who have struggled with maths in the past is what led parents of his students to nominate him for the 2017 QCT Excellence in Teaching Award. |
Tony also holds regular tutoring sessions during lunchtimes, allowing students requiring extra assistance to gain more personalised help with their studies.
The hard work Tony has put in at Cooloola Christian College is clearly paying off, with the school’s NAPLAN results steadily increasing and students enjoying success at regional mathematics competitions. Congratulations Tony on your nomination. By Claudia Farhart. |
