Skye’s nomination for the 2017 QCT Excellence in Beginning to Teach Award is indicative of her incredible dedication to her students and the greater school community. Students in Skye’s classes are constantly engaged, energised and excited to learn. |
Skye is in touch with the diverse cultural backgrounds of students at Mackay SHS, which contributes to the depth of her understanding of them as individual learners.
She displays well developed leadership skills, even as only a second year teacher. As coordinator of the school’s Year 9 History and Geography units, Skye efficiently supports seven staff members and exercises great decision-making skills. Skye dedicates her time to a number of the school’s extra-curricular activities including involvement in drama performances and coaching the netball team. Mackay SHS Head of Department for Social Sciences Roxanne Aprile says, “She constantly displays outstanding, energetic professionalism and commitment.” Congratulations Skye on your nomination. |
