Prep students have become critical and creative thinkers under Sarah Hutley, who has been praised for her delivery of the Prep Curriculum at Sheldon College.
The Prep teacher has developed a program that promotes social, emotional, physical and cognitive wellbeing through inclusive, integrated and interconnected learning experiences.
Sarah has created opportunities for her students to become curious about other cultures, celebrates diversity and stimulates discussions with students about similarities and differences. This stems from research and professional reading to deepen her understanding of the impact of culture, identity and linguistic background on the education of students from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.
Sheldon College Principal Dr Lyn Bishop says Sarah is an outstanding teacher in every respect.
“She has an excellent command of her subject matter as a beginning teacher and has first class relationships with students, staff and parents,” Dr Bishop says.
“Sarah is most deserving of an award of this nature.”
Congratulations Sarah on your nomination.
