Prudence Vaughan
Sheldon College
Real-world, solutions-based learning plays a key role in engaging students at Sheldon College, where Business Management and Legal Studies teacher Prudence Vaughan helps lead the approach.
Prue, who is passionate about entrepreneurship in business, and design thinking and creativity, has been instrumental in the creation and delivery of an Entrepreneurship, Design and Innovation Studies subject at the college.
The Years 9 to 12 teacher, who also teaches Business Studies, ensures that all Sheldon College students are provided with the latest industry-standard applications and practice, with a focus on digital platforms, hardware and equipment.
She has been a featured speaker at Business Educators Association of Queensland events and this year is nominated for a Queensland College of Teachers Excellence in Teaching Award.
Prue is also a former Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority panel chair for Legal Studies and continues to work as a senior syllabus writer and reviewer in the subject.
Recently she engaged students from Masig (also known as Yorke) Island in the Torres Strait to develop a community-based business venture.
Sheldon College Principal Dr Lyn Bishop says Prue is an outstanding teacher.
“She is extremely talented in many disciplines and engages her students in a love of learning,” Dr Bishop says.
Congratulations Prue on your nomination.
