Paul Zietsch
St Matthews's Catholic School
“Paul is the teacher you wish you had, the teacher you want your children to have, the teacher I aspire to be.” – Blair Thomas, a former student and now colleague of Paul Zietsch.
Inside the classroom, Paul Zietsch is a teacher so inspiring some of his students want to become teachers. Outside of the classroom, his dedication to extra-curricular activities is tireless.
His enthusiasm, energy and commitment to seeing students achieve at levels beyond those they thought possible are some of the reasons he has been nominated for the Queensland College of Teachers Outstanding Contribution to Teaching Award.
The St Matthew’s Catholic School, Cornubia, teacher works during his afternoons, weekends and holidays to provide an opportunity for students to take part in the national story dance challenge Wakakirri and his team has won state awards in the competition.
This year he has started a touch football club for students interested in playing outside school and he spends seven days a week on this during the season.
He is also regarded as “a great mentor” and a highly ethical and professional member of staff.
Paul is able to encourage children to excel in all areas.
Colleague Dr Samantha Monteiro says she doesn’t “know anybody more worthy of the award”.
Congratulations Paul on your nomination.
