Patrick Morely from Kuraby Special School is leading a school-wide project implementing positive behaviour for learning practices.
He has a strong understanding of disability-specific practices to create engaging and relevant teaching experiences promoting student learning. Using appropriate pedagogical practice, he has improved his students’ learning opportunities. Patrick is teaching all subjects of the Australian Curriculum in a way that his diverse student cohort can access. He teaches across a diverse curriculum range and was an early adaptor and model of new school initiatives and improvements in school priority areas. He constantly seeks to improve himself and transfer new knowledge to his colleagues. |
“Patrick is always enthusiastic and willing to have a go at evidence-based practices to meet the students’ learning needs,” principal Fleur Watson said. Patrick emphasises Zones of Regulation. He recently began to embed this professional learning for staff with the Rock and Water program.
“He has shown a commitment to learning a range of different communication models, including Auslan, PODD and ProquoGo,” Fleur said. Congratulations Patrick on your QCT Excellent Leadership in Teaching and Learning Award nomination. |
