Natalie Mahon, from Calamvale Community College, is described as an exceptional young teacher focused on extending her own professional knowledge and practice.
She engages with curriculum leaders in Maths and English to ensure she aligns her pedagogy with College expectations. She is self-reflective, requests feedback and realises that for her students to be their best, she must be at her best. Natalie actively participates in a team collaborative-inquiry process with her Year 3 team and has sought a range of current research to support their focus area of comprehension and effective assessment strategies. With her team she has identified these areas as key factors impacting student learning. |
She incorporates a range of tools to stimulate her learners, such as hands-on resources, iPads, graphic organisers, word walls and visual examples.
Natalie is a valued member of her Year 3 team and the Junior School. She sees the benefits of developing strong, productive relationships with students, parents and teaching colleagues. She is a key leader in reviewing summative assessment pieces in Maths and providing and designing pieces that are engaging and challenging for students. Developing a strong rapport with parents so the school and home can work together is an important goal for Natalie. Congratulations Natalie on your Queensland College of Teachers Excellence in Beginning to Teach Award nomination. |
