Michelle Gault
Riverside Christian College
Michelle Gault is working with industry experts all around the world to create authentic learning experiences for her students.
The Riverside Christian College Humanities and Drama teacher uses digital technologies such as Skype to give her students valuable face-to-face access to real-world professionals. This is just one example of the many innovative teaching techniques Michelle uses to inspire and engage her students. |
“Her planning, research, connection building, reflection, and constant search for ways to improve the learning experiences of her students are evidence of her commitment to improving learning outcomes,” colleague Robyn McCarthy said.
With a strong understanding of adolescents and their unique needs, Michelle strives to give her students choice over their style of learning and assessment to ensure all students are working to their own individual strengths. Michelle exemplifies a commitment to furthering the development of not only her students but also her community of teachers. She enthusiastically shares her innovative ideas with others as a mentor to local teachers, through her part-time work as a lecturer for pre-service teachers at the University of the Sunshine Coast, and through the professional development sessions she presents to her peers. She also regularly presents at Fraser Coast TeachMeets and at conferences for the Queensland History Teachers Association, where she discusses ways to incorporate innovative practices into the classroom. Michelle’s outstanding work to date has seen her receive a scholarship to attend the 2017 Australian Schools Lead and Expert Teachers Leadership Colloquium and a scholarship to participate in the Gandel Holocaust Studies Program for Australian Educators. She was also recognised as ‘Educator of the Year’ at the 2017 Australian Council for Educational Leaders Fraser Coast Educational Alliance Awards. Congratulations Michelle on your nomination.
