Mark Tunstall
Calamvale Community College
Mark Tunstall is passionate about technology, and it shows in his work as a Digital and Design Technology teacher at Calamvale Community College.
Being an early adopter of all things technology, Mark designs learning experiences that capture the interest of his junior secondary students. He also supports his students in Years 7, 8 and 12 by finding ways to further their learning — creating learners who are just as passionate as he is. He makes the effort to get to know his students well – what they’re interested in and their individual learning styles. |
Through this gained knowledge, he designs his lessons with differentiated support in all his classes. He gives all his students an opportunity to strive for their best in his classes.
College Principal Lisa Starmer says Mark is popular with and trusted by students at Calamvale. “Mark is at the cutting edge of STEM education,” Ms Starmer says. “(He is) building systems for student learning and developing industry standard classroom experiences to extend the skills of STEM students beyond the curriculum.”
Mark conducts himself professionally in all aspects of school life, and is passionate about the College he works at. Mark says teaching in technology is about embracing change and challenge. "With technology changing so rapidly and influencing our lives more and more, it is important for our students to build their technology skills in interesting and innovative ways," says Mark. "New technologies like 3D printing and Arduino controllers have enabled us to develop a future oriented curriculum to give our students their best chance in an ever increasingly technological world." Students need work that challenges them to deepen their knowledge and extend themselves in the use of multiple technologies. Congratulations Mark on your nomination. Written by Mark Zita. |
