Madeleine Reid’s tireless commitment to her students and to her own professional practice has resulted in an improvement in student outcomes at Boonah State High School.
The Boonah State High School (BSHS) English and Humanities teacher has been praised by her colleagues for using a research-based and data-driven approach to teaching, and for her ability to reengage students and provide impressive differentiation for a diverse range of learners. Madeleine uses a variety of digital, traditional and individualised resources to engage students. BSHS Master Teacher Tracee Steele says Madeleine’s passion for enabling all students to have access to the curriculum, regardless of their individual capabilities, is inspiring. |
“Through her integration of creative and engaging resources, she has created learning sequences that engage learners throughout the learning cycle and give them maximum opportunity for success,” Tracee says. Tracee says Madeleine regularly seeks mentoring from her peers to improve her professional practice.
“She has seen high levels of success by applying that advice in the development of stronger and more productive student and parent and carer relationships. This has led to improved student outcomes,” Tracee says. Madeleine has also been praised for her active participation in extra-curricular activities, including: coaching and umpiring sports, supervising at school socials and playing an important role in the recent school musical. BSHS principal Cheryl Bullion says Madeleine is “a most valued member of our teaching staff for her commitment to ‘Every Student Succeeding’.” “She is highly effective in her planning and delivery of learning programs, supportive of students through her interaction with them in a variety of settings, effective with her behaviour management practices, involved in a range of extra-curricular activities, thorough in her assessment practices and ethical in all interactions,” Cheryl says. Congratulations Madeleine on your nomination for a QCT Excellence in Beginning to Teach Award. |
