Student attendance, behaviour and engagement have increased under a talented second-year teacher at WoodLinks State School.
Lewis Fletcher is also leading the school’s implementation of a STREAM hub and has collaborated with staff from other schools as part of the initiative.
Teaching partner Jessarrah Wilson says Lewis is always reflecting on his practice and his students’ needs.
“I have worked with Lewis since his first day as a classroom teacher, and from the very first day he has shown a wisdom beyond his experience with his ability to engage all students within his classroom,” Jessarrah says.
“Despite teaching Year 5 for a second time this year, Lewis has not taught a single lesson the same way,” she says.
“Lewis makes every lesson engaging and valuable for every student in his class. From introducing a topic to concluding a body of work, every lesson is hands-on and practical.”
