Lesley Gollan
WoodLinks State School
Prep students are achieving outstanding results at Woodlinks State School thanks to a new reading and transition program introduced by Lesley Gollan.
Lesley also leads a network of early childhood providers and school teachers who share best practice and age-appropriate pedagogies. The WoodLinks State School Head of Curriculum has been identified as a rising school leader. Last year she was chosen to be part of the Department of Education and Training’s Aspiring Leaders Group. This year she is bolstering her leadership capabilities through the Queensland Education Leadership Institute Leading Learners program. |
Lesley has developed an eight-week program for pre-Prep students and parents based on community data as part of a school transition program.
She has implemented a whole-of-school explicit reading program, resulting in Prep students exceeding the national minimum standard in reading by 55 per cent. As the Head of Curriculum, Lesley has embedded moderation into the whole-school curriculum planning framework and collaborates with teachers. She uses the latest academic research to inform programs and staff professional development. Congratulations Lesley on your nomination. Written by Mark Zita |
