Krystin Davey
Annandale Christian College
Year 5 students at Annandale Christian College are thrilled to have been featured on ABC TV’s Behind the News thanks to their creative teacher Krystin Davey, who has been nominated for the Queensland College of Teachers Excellence in Beginning to Teach Award.
After only three years in her profession, Krystin has managed to inspire her colleagues through mentoring programs, and by providing encouraging suggestions that are received gratefully by staff and students.
Krystin’s dedication to improving her school extends beyond her position on the Self Improving Schools Committee and has seen many improvements to the school’s pedagogical framework.
Year 6 teacher at Annandale Christian College Vanessa Dunbar is inspired by Krystin’s ability to generate such interactive and engaging activities that still allow teachers to monitor learning.
“When I walk into Krystin’s class I feel like I’ve walked into a learning paradise. Everywhere you look there is engaging material that encourages questioning and a motivation to learn,” Vanessa says.
Principal Daniel Clarke said, “It is an honour to work with such a talented, passionate and professional teacher”.
Krystin actively attends professional development seminars and conducts her own research with the aim of improving both the school and her classroom.
She is a highly valued mentor to other beginning teachers at the school.
Congratulations Krystin on your nomination.
