Mt Alvernia College
Sharing her passion for literature and Young Adult fiction with students and the Mount Alvernia College community through her blog “Adventures of the Lifting Librarian”, Krystal Gagen is known for her unique expertise in the area.
The copious reader has introduced book clubs and a Geek Girl initiative, which invites students to design and create.
Krystal has researched and implemented innovative practices in the classrooms, during excursions and in extra-curricular learning, and presented new research platforms to colleagues.
The teacher librarian is also a Geography teacher who seeks out professional development opportunities to ensure she is modelling best practice teaching in the classroom.
Dr Kerrie Tuite says Krystal is an energetic and enthusiastic teacher who seeks to extend herself and her students.
“Examples of this are the co-curricular programmes that she has initiated with students,” Kerrie says.
Krystal has a strong, positive rapport with students as a result of her dedication to the profession and her enthusiasm for her teaching subjects.
Congratulations Krystal on your nomination.
