Kerry Brady is a celebrated teacher at Richmond Hill State School, with 31 years’ experience which she has used to shape teachers and students across the community of Charters Towers.
“Kerry leads from the front, modelling effective teaching practices in Writing and the unpacking of English units including Elements of Learning Intentions, Success Criteria and Guides to Making Judgements, and has been exemplary in her role as HOC,” principal Mark Brady said. She has showcased student learning and teachers’ focus on school priorities by leading school walk-throughs with regional visitors and colleagues. |
Kerry’s outstanding work collaborating with other teachers in year-level planning afternoons to improve teacher knowledge and understanding of the Australian curriculum, generating discussion and input to enhance what they teach and how they teach, is having tremendous impact on their success. It has led to increased clarity about where the teachers need to start and the journey to take children on to achieve as learners.
As HOC she has led innovative changes in multiple areas at Richmond Hill State School. Her drive to lead pedagogical improvement with all teachers, from Prep to Year 6, in implementing Explicit Instruction with the use of Learning Walls and Data sets to develop literate learners has been outstanding. Kerry devoted a large amount of time to facilitate Year 5 students entering the STEM Tropics Global Futures project. Congratulations Kerry on your QCT Excellent Leadership in Teaching and Learning Award nomination. |
