Kahla Smith from Avenues Early Learning Centre, Sunnybank Hills prides herself on preparing young children for a smooth transition into school by inspiring them and focusing on their wellbeing.
She ensures they are equipped with the social and emotional skills to adapt and move to the school environment with self-confidence and pride. Kahla teaches a rich curriculum using projects and experiences of interest to the children and inspires them to accept their own and others’ diverse backgrounds, beliefs and feelings. |
Continued professional development, teacher training and educational presentations help Kahla advance in her role and explore new learning and content.
“Kahla aims to inspire and support the early childhood learners and educators with the ability to explore new strategies, information and content. She is extremely approachable and always pleased to assist, mentor, collaborate and support other educators in the industry,” Kahla’s employer, Carla Hudson, said. Kahla continues to innovate by participating in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workshops with local family members from the centre; to observe, document, plan and reflect on individual children and their development and interests; and to write yearly transition statements to assess the progress of each child. Congratulations Kahla on your QCT Excellent Leadership in Teaching and Learning Award nomination. |
