Jordan Moore
Tara Shire State College
It is hard to believe Jordan Moore has only been a teacher for three years.
As a Special Education Teacher at Tara Shire State College, Jordan’s outstanding commitment to his students’ learning and wellbeing is described as exemplary by his colleagues. Jordan constantly aims to provide any support necessary to his colleagues such as completing profiling and functional behaviour assessments. Jordan has been nominated for the 2017 Queensland College of Teachers Excellence in Beginning to Teach Award. |
He expertly fosters positive relationships with parents to engage them in the progress of their children’s learning.
Head of Special Education at Tara Shire State College Melissa Thomas says Jordan is extremely committed to fostering independent-learning skills in his students to help them become productive citizens in society. He has also facilitated professional development sessions on Intensive Interaction that aims to teach and develop the fundamentals of communication to students at early levels of development, students who have autism and students who have severe and profound learning difficulties. Jordan is enthusiastic in his approach to allowing all staff within the school community to learn more about interacting with students in his classroom. He is dedicated to teaching other staff and members of the community about the challenges that his students face each day and has organised fundraising events that have raised over $2300 for Autism and Rett Syndrome-related charities. Recently Jordan was sponsored for every kilometre he ran during the month of April to raise funds for Autism. Additionally, Jordan also facilitates the PIPPAS program (Parents in Pre-School Program at School) that aims to develop fundamental skills in students who will be starting Prep next year. Jordan is an enthusiastic and caring teacher who strives to foster relationships with both students and parents. Congratulations Jordan on your nomination. |
