Jimelle Woodland
Wellers Hill State School
Parents have praised an inspirational Wellers Hill State School teacher who they say changes lives.
Jimelle Woodland has been nominated by three parents and a colleague for a Queensland College of Teachers Outstanding Contribution to Teaching Award.
In Jimelle’s classes, students set and track their own learning goals and all achievements – big and small – are celebrated.
Alma Mujic says she has met a few great teachers in her life “but I have never met someone as inspirational as Mrs Jimelle Woodland”.
She says as a local shop owner, who also has a child in Jimelle’s class, she is often told about the extraordinary difference Jimelle is making with children, on both an academic and a personal level.
Wellers Hill State School Principal John Webster says Jimelle goes “above and beyond what is expected of a classroom teacher”.
Jimelle is currently on contract at West End State School.
Congratulations Jimelle on your nomination.
