Janna Lynam, from Mackay State High School, has shown commitment to her profession, participating in a multi-disciplinary professional learning team of peers examining strategies for improving practices and learning outcomes for students.
She has an insightfulness and intuitiveness beyond her short experience. At the beginning of the year she familiarises herself with each student’s background and academic performance histories, cultural background, relevant medical conditions and prior support programs. Janna uses a range of technologies and teaching strategies to make the curriculum engaging and relevant to her students. She is able to plan, design and assess inside the learning environment in authentic ways that provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding. |
She uses student performance data in collaboration with her peers to develop improvement targets for her classes and engages with her students in setting targets and goals for their own improvement.
Janna is also able to provide feedback to both students and their parents/carers on the strategies that can be applied to improve performance. Congratulations Janna on your Queensland College of Teachers Excellence in Beginning to Teach Award nomination. |
