Possibly the greatest way to understand the incredible work a teacher does is to hear it straight from the students.
Year 8 student Isabelle Walker nominated her Science and Health and Physical Education teacher, Ms Isabel Taylor, for the 2017 QCT Excellence in Beginning to Teach Award. Isabelle explains her appreciation for Ms Taylor’s engaging, fun and flexible lessons, where students are encouraged to understand the value of learning, and choose the learning style which best suits their needs. “She makes learning fun by showing us videos that relate to the topic instead of writing down notes,” says Isabelle. |

“She will add science jokes so it’s easier for our memory to remember.” As a student herself, Isabel Taylor never envisaged returning to school with such enthusiasm and gratification. “The community, particularly the students of Loreto College are the centre of my motivation to produce positive learning experiences,” says Isabel. It is truly inspiring when students leave a lesson and their discussions continue beyond the classroom, that’s when you notice the potential impact as a teacher.
