Hayzel Khan
Woodridge State High School
Hayzel Khan is generating amazing results amongst special education students at Woodridge State High School (WSHS) through her teaching of senior English Communication.
After just 18 months of teaching she has been identified as a leader of teaching and learning.
Hayzel’s successful efforts to provide online learning opportunities to students of all ability levels has led to her nomination for the Excellence in Beginning to Teach Award with the Queensland College of Teachers.
Thanks to Hayzel’s introduction of the Read Theory program, students of WSHS are able to complete specially designed online reading activities, at their convenience.
Her colleagues are able to observe her approach in open classroom sessions and her celebration of student success has been popular with both pupils and parents.
Principal Sharon Schultz says Hayzel is an outstanding teacher.
“She demonstrates a level of passion, skill and experience far beyond her years of teaching,” Sharon says.
Hayzel’s recent application for enrolment and scholarship in The Australian Schools Special Education Leadership Colloquium is a testament to her dedication to the teaching profession, and her commitment to her teaching practice.
Congratulations Hayzel on your nomination.
