Gwenda Nunn is a Year 7 teacher in Science and Maths and a Senior Biology and Chemistry teacher at Atherton State High School with over ten years’ experience.
As an experienced teacher and Chemistry panellist, Gwenda draws on her own experience and a variety of research-based legislative and administrative sources to respond to the needs of her students. These include explicit instruction, a signature pedagogy at Atherton State High School, as well as Education Queensland Individual Curriculum Plan (ICP) development. She is part of a team developing the new Senior Assessment and Tertiary Entrance (SATE) program using QCAA resources and is also refining the Junior Science Program using the Australian Curriculum. |
Gwenda offers her students varied lesson plans, teaching activities and pedagogical practices; the use of digital technology, including the Learning Place, YouTube, document cameras and video microscopes.
She is an active participant in parent/teacher events and regularly contacts parents to update them about student achievement, effort and behaviour. Gwenda offers individual mentoring to students through weekly tutorial sessions in her lunchbreak.
