Christopher Milne

Mackay State High School

Christopher Milne, or Chris as he’s known to his colleagues, is a committed and professional lifelong learner.

Chris models exceptional professionalism, responsibility and ethics to his students, colleagues and the local community.

His admirable dedication to the teaching profession and incredible achievements as a beginning teacher have landed him in the running for the 2017 QCT Excellence in Beginning to Teach Award.

In Chris’ classroom the respect between teacher and the student is mutual. Students feel supported in learning from their own mistakes, and are confident in directing their own learning.

Chris makes great effort to know his students as individuals, both pastorally and academically, which allows him to target their specific learning needs and provide motivation.

“Since commencing here he has demonstrated a passion for his subject, an enthusiasm for teaching (in and outside the class) and inspiring student enthusiasm for learning,” says MSHS Deputy Principal Tania Cheers.
Chris also supports the school’s debating team, who compete in inter-school competitions.

Congratulations Christopher on your nomination.
