Christine Potts
Sunshine Coast Grammar School
Sunshine Coast Grammar School teacher Christine Potts inspires her students and colleagues with a powerful passion for English and both Ancient and Modern History.
In the six years of her teaching career, Christine has created lessons that are interactive and hands-on, increasing engagement with her students. She ensures all students – regardless of their learning style – are catered for in Christine’s classes, where she provides differentiated activities for students at various ability levels. Christine also dedicates her spare time to tutor students with special needs in small groups. Digital literacies are constantly integrated in Christine’s lessons, encouraging students to learn and work in new-age ways that are efficient and engaging. |
Students are able to really connect with their learning through content that is relatable to their everyday lives.
Christine supports her colleagues by sharing her enthusiasm for literacy and numeracy programs with preservice and beginning teachers who she mentors. Colleage Jayne Strohfeldt says, “Christine is an innovative, modern, engaging and fun teacher.” “The feedback that Christine offers to students is outstanding and she consistently makes herself available to assist students. Rather than improving errors, Christine seeks to enhance skills for students through feedback and tutoring.” As an active community member, Christine participates in extra-curricular activities and volunteers her time to planning and adjudicating student debating groups, coaching football and volleyball teams, mentoring scholarship students and assisting students participating in the school’s ‘Da Vinci Decathlon’. Christine has recently been selected as an External Marker for the English External Assessment Trial in preparation for the new Senior English system being introduced in Queensland secondary schools. Christine says she is sincerely humbled by her nomination. "I would like to recognise my school for the opportunities it has provided for me as an educator," says Christine. Congratulations Christine on your nomination. |
