Admired for her professional commitment to students, Brooke Wilson is an exceptional English and Learning Support teacher from whom colleagues seek advice at Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School (IGGS).
IGGS Principal Dr Peter Britton says Brooke’s depth and breadth of subject knowledge “is impressive for a beginning teacher”, and that her professional commitment to students who have English as a second language is “particularly inspiring”. |
“I have witnessed her set individual learning goals that correspond to students’ level of learning, draw on a range of resources that help individual students construct meaning, move seamlessly from explicit to whole class instruction, and to group and individual work, based on the learning needs of her students. She celebrates students’ success, and uses humour, care and compassion to create effective learning environments,” Dr Britton says.
Brooke arranges her classroom and structures lessons to increase student motivation and engagement. She consistently develops strategies that enable her to adapt quickly to individual students’ learning needs, and she demonstrates a deep commitment to strengthening her knowledge and skills using the school’s pedagogical framework. Brooke is also heavily involved in the school’s extra-curricular programs, including as an Assistant Tennis Coordinator, and she contributes regularly to community service activities. Congratulations Brooke on your nomination for a QCT Excellence in Beginning to Teach Award. |
