Brian Rowe
The Southport School
This outstanding teacher has had a classroom named in his honour.
During the 39 years Brian has been an educator, he has consistently brought out the very best in his students. He is passionate about recognising and developing student potential in all levels of ability. TSS Deputy Principal Mark Wyer says, “Brian Rowe’s distinguished service to education and The Southport School family is unsurpassed.” “His legacy in teaching will be far-reaching for the thousands of students he has so served in his career.” Brian’s overall contribution to TSS is immeasurable. |
As well as House Master, Student Protection Officer and classroom teacher, Brian has taken on several extra-curricular projects that have since become annual events.
He facilitates the Prep Public Speaking Competition, leads the Year 5 and Year 6 camps and Canberra trips, founded and coordinates the inaugural international basketball competition, and in his most recent role is the Candles and Clay Service Organiser. Brian is committed to establishing strong relationships between the school and local community. Throughout his career Brian has held executive positions in a number of national organisations such as the Association of Private Schools and the Junior School Heads Association of Australia, to name a few. Deputy Principal of Prepatory School (Curriculum) at TSS Kathryn Barry has worked with Brian in a variety of roles at both TSS and Saint Stephen’s College, where Brian was the Foundation Headmaster. Kathryn says Brian’s passion and leadership as head of Saint Stephen’s College on the Gold Coast made it the school it is today. “He led by example, clearly articulating his vision for the school to the school community,” says Kathryn. Congratulations Brian on your nomination. |
