Bernie Walter
Moggill State School
‘Know, glow and grow’ is a teaching philosophy that Bernie Walter takes to heart with her early years students at Moggill State School.
Bernie promotes strategies such as higher order thinking to engage her students’ curiosity for learning. The development of social and emotional skills of her students is also a high priority in Bernie’s classroom. Her students are supported in an environment that makes them feel welcome and is inclusive of all learning styles. She is thoroughly familiar with the academic capabilities of her students, and through this knowledge Bernie facilitates learning experiences that encourage her students to be independent learners. |
“One of the things I’m most proud of is the time and effort I put into creating meaningful and authentic learning experiences for my students,” says Bernie. “I feel it’s the best way to keep them engaged and to prepare them for life in general.”
She also creates lessons that challenge her students’ minds at differentiated levels, that maximise student learning potential and success.
