Calamvale Community College
Belinda Goode is admired for her outstanding leadership skills at Calamvale Community College (CCC).
Not only has she revolutionised the teaching of writing in her own classroom, but for the entire Year 1 cohort.
After trialing the First Steps in Writing program and noticing a significant improvements in students results, Belinda shared this information with her fellow year level teaching staff and helped them integrate the new teaching approach.
Belinda consistently seeks new pedagogy to reflect and improve on her own professional practice.
She generously shares her knowledge and ideas with colleagues by opening her classroom to allow them to observe her teaching and planning strategies.
Belinda also leads professional development and she has plans to begin a coaching group to give interested teachers the opportunity to also learn about how to teach the First Steps in Writing program.
Junior School Principal Jaqueline Welch says Belinda is a very well respected and positive leader at the CCC.
“Belinda exhibits the qualities of a life-long learner and has been active in looking for opportunities both within and beyond the College to further enhance her capabilities,” says Jaqueline.
Congratulations Belinda on your nomination.
