Ashleigh Marks takes a 21st century approach to her classroom, which sees her students solving real-world problems and current issues through an inquiry-based learning program.
The St Francis Catholic Primary School teacher regularly reflects with her students on their progression. Through her passion of education, Ashleigh is continually focusing on adapting her teaching practice to the individual learning styles of her students to ensure they get the most out of each school day. Principal Kathleen Watt says Ashleigh spends her time reading contemporary literature on education and trialling new pedagogy with her students and colleagues to give her students the chance to reach their full potential. |
“She is forever learning and researching best practice and sharing her knowledge and expertise with others in the school community,” Kathleen says. Having recently returned from an educational study tour with Adolescent Success in Finland, Ashleigh is excited about the change developing within education in Australia. She believes that the direction being taken to ensure that students are future focused, critical problem solvers and real-world participants is crucial for the success of our young people.
“She spends time visiting and skyping with schools in Australia and New Zealand. Ashleigh leads through example and treats her students and colleagues with absolute respect.” Congratulations Ashleigh on your nomination. |
