Ashleigh Kaye’s tireless dedication to improving student outcomes, in particular numeracy, and building relationships with students, parents and her local community has been praised by her colleagues.
The St Catherine’s Catholic College (St Catherine’s) teacher has worked hard to reengage her students with mathematics and build their numeracy skills across subjects. She provides tutoring for her Year 8 classes two afternoons per week after school and is a lead teacher involved in the Student Representative Council at the Proserpine school. |
As the college’s netball coach, she travels with the team to other regional centres, including Townsville and Charters Towers, for the students to compete.
Ashleigh also volunteers her time each month to assist the Parish Youth Group, which provides a fun and safe space for students to socialise and connect with the church. St Catherine’s teacher Erin Laguna says Ashleigh is an outstanding beginning teacher who actively seeks feedback from curriculum leaders and classroom profilers and implements the professional development she undertakes. St Catherine’s principal Sharyn Bell says Ashleigh is an innovative and dedicated teacher. “Ashleigh continues to show commitment and impressive adaptation of her unique approach to teaching and learning.” Sharyn says. Congratulations Ashleigh on your nomination for a QCT Excellence in Beginning to Teach Award. |
