Sports have been opened up to children across a community thanks to a dedicated Physical Education (PE) teacher at Capalaba State College.
Anna Rasmussen runs before and after school training sessions for sports including Australian Oztag, , tennis, athletics, cross country, basketball and volleyball. The sessions have been opened up to students outside the school, building greater community connections and access for children to physical activity opportunities. The teams then compete at weekends. Anna says this gives the students access to a wide range of sporting competitions to broaden their love of sport. |
"This is hoping to provide them with at least one sport or skill they can take away to live their best active life," Anna says.
The primary school PE teacher has been praised for her engagement with training organisations, teachers from other schools and a number of committees to ensure that students are exposed to the latest techniques in PE and teaching that is based on the Australian Curriculum.
