Anna Lynch
Woodridge State School
This teacher has been the driving force behind closing the gap in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students’ attendance rates at Woodridge State School.
By building strong relationships with the Indigenous elders and their families within the school community, Anna has boosted Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander attendance rates from 85.9% to 88.6% in just two years. She has improved learning outcomes for Pacific Islander students through her leadership role in the school’s Pacific Links Primary program. |
Anna’s incredible contribution to the strategic direction of WSS has led to her nomination for the 2017 QCT Excellent Leadership in Teaching and Learning Award.
Through her various leadership roles within the school, Anna has introduced a number of programs and frameworks that have greatly benefited the entire school community. She implemented Prep Transition Program, which has generated overwhelmingly positive feedback from Prep students and their parents following a series of workshops that educated parents on new ways to help their children learn and manage separation anxiety. The program’s success has also been reflected the 2017 Prep students’ attendance rates which reached a record high of 95.3%. Teachers at WSS can now access an online bank of professional development resources that Anna established for quick and easy access to valuable information to help build professional skills and knowledge. Congratulations Anna on your nomination. |
