Andrew Stark
The Southport School
Parents of students at The Southport School (TSS) are learning the best possible ways to support their children’s schooling thanks to this incredible teacher.
As Head of Libraries and Coordinator of Professional Learning, Andrew Stark consistently ensures the literacy skills of students, teachers and parents of the TSS community remain paramount. By engaging in one of Andrew’s four-week Parent Study Skills programs, parents and carers can learn and develop the necessary skills to foster their child’s education, understand how the adolescent brain works, and what motivates the behaviour of young people. Andrew’s extraordinary contributions to the teaching profession throughout his nearly 30 year career have landed him in the running to be awarded the 2017 QCT Outstanding Contribution to Teaching Award. |
TSS Senior Library is now an inspiring, creative and academic space, thanks to Andrew.
Andrew has been integral in the creation of the TSS museum, where he collaborates with key community members and the Australian Society of Archivists to bring local history into the classroom. Deputy Headmaster of TSS Jo Inglis says, “This will ensure the history of TSS, and its students and staff, will never be forgotten by the students of the future.” Andrew has created a range of presentations for a wide range of subjects that allow his powerful influence to extend into every classroom at TSS. “This approach has ensured students (and staff) have exposure to advanced information literacy skills, and most importantly, a foundation for a strong research skills set,” says Deputy Headmaster and Head of Senior School Andrew Hawkins. “Andrew is an extraordinary asset for the community of The Southport School,” says Andrew Hawkins. “He continually strives to improve his (and support others’) educational practice through extensive research and professional reflection.”
Congratulations Andrew on your nomination. |
