From working in the sales and marketing sector to training to be a priest, Andrew Ryan is able to use his past professional experiences to provide real-world contexts in his Business, Mathematics and Religion classes at Carmel College.
Andrew has organised students into a “Parliament” in order to engage them in lessons about Government and Law. Teaching colleague Ben Wittkopp says Andrew is up-to-date with effective teaching practices and has exceptional skills when dealing with students with high needs. “Andrew has shown great commitment to his students’ learning,” Ben says. |
“He has engaged with school leaders and parents to get the best from his students, and has adjusted many teaching and learning strategies and assessments to support many students – a great display of differentiation with a very personal touch,” he says.
Principal Stephen Adair says Andrew is an outstanding early career teacher “who displays the best attributes of the profession”. Congratulations Andrew on your nomination for a QCT Excellence in Beginning to Teach Award. |
