When bushfires devastated part of the Gladstone region earlier this year, Tracey Noe worked with students to collect blankets, bandages and other items for injured animals.

For over 35 years teaching at various schools, Tracey Noe has shown an outstanding commitment to her students and the wider community.

The Gladstone Central State School (GCSS) teacher collaborates with industry and local business to support issues raised in the community, including working with animal welfare groups.

GCSS is a Reef Guardian school and Tracey works to promote this, with students going on excursions to learn about the reef’s importance and the ties the school has to the harbour.

In addition to undertaking regular professional development, Tracey studied through Deakin University to gain a Graduate Diploma of Art Education (Primary) so she could work with children in this field.

Her love of the arts has seen her offer extended art learning programs, paint large murals for classrooms and buildings and participate in speech and choir eisteddfods.

By keeping up to date with current practice, Tracey strives to understand each child’s learning needs and set goals for them.

“I ensure that they can verbalise their goals and feel comfortable in asking for assistance to get there,” Tracey says.
“I also like to educate my classes about empathy and assisting others. Therefore, participating in community events or helping others at special times is also something I strive for,” she says.
