Stuart Taylor
Riverside Christian College
Stuart Taylor’s programs and philosophies have turned Riverside Christian College (RCC) into a school that is up-to-date with current teaching practices and with the use of digital literacies.
RCC transformed its teaching philosophy from one that was teacher-focused, to one where student-driven learning comes first. Stuart placed an emphasis on collaboration, rather than isolation. Teachers are now placed in Professional Learning Communities in order to most effectively share information and data amongst their like-minded group. |
This shift to student-driven learning has seen the school’s top OP scores rise from OP 7 to OP 1, and NAPLAN data has improved across both literacy and numeracy.
Stuart and his team have won awards at the Fraser Coast Educational Alliance, Teacher of the Year and Innovation in Education Awards. He has delivered presentations nationally and internationally. Stuart has led the way in implementing digital literacies in all aspects of school culture. He has harnessed social media to empower his career, using Twitter as a collaborative tool to share teaching ideas to the wider world. Students benefit from Stuart’s thinking through the use of special software and devices such as 3D printers, iPads and laptops, all which support their learning. Congratulations Stuart on your nomination. Written by Mark Zita. |
