Sally-Anne Weise

Silkstone State School

Students with learning difficulties often fly under the radar, and this highlights the importance of learning intervention programs in schools.
​
Sally-Anne Weise has dedicated herself to ensure such students receive the best chance to succeed in their academic endeavours at Silkstone State School.

With Sally-Anne’s leadership, reading results have improved significantly in a span of 18 months. 

Students are now achieving higher benchmarks in the PM and PROBE reading assessments, compared with 2015 and 2016.

NAPLAN results have also improved each year, with students consistently exceeding national minimum standards.   

Sally-Anne’s passion is for the teaching of reading; she has developed Silkstone’s Reading Framework, and guides all staff to ensure this framework is put into practice in the classroom.

She also ensures students understand the high expectations of their reading lessons and has implemented the Reader of the Week award – with winners announced to the whole school via assembly and on social media.

Another initiative by Sally-Anne is the annual Silkstone Book Fair (Books in the Home) where every student receives a book of their choice for free.  This event fosters a love of reading and a love of books across the whole school and puts literacy in the spotlight.

Every time she leads in-house professional development sessions, she ensures each staff member understands the expectations and skills required to deliver results.
