Rebecca Robertson
Calamvale Community College
Rebecca Robertson is determined to give all students from all backgrounds an equal opportunity to thrive in the classroom.
The Calamvale Community College Maths and Science teacher is fostering her students’ engagement with and interest in science by relating their coursework to the real world whenever possible. “Rebecca engages all students in practical and purposeful activities that give meaning to their learning and develop their confidence and interest in the subject,” colleague Roshni Sharma said. “She takes the time to develop relationships with her students, ensuring that their diverse linguistic, cultural, and religious backgrounds are considered when developing her lessons,” she said. |
Rebecca’s ability to adapt her teaching of the curriculum to reflect the needs of her learners as individuals has allowed her students to achieve the best results possible, optimising both satisfaction and engagement in the classroom.
Rebecca is a highly valued team member of Calamvale Community College’s teaching staff. She participates in a wide range of professional development and readily shares her expertise with her colleagues in her role as a mentor to pre-service and beginning teachers. Recently, Rebecca assisted the school in developing an Australian Curriculum planner for the Science department, allowing her to use her deep knowledge of the curriculum to help other teachers develop effective classroom practices. Congratulations Rebecca on your nomination. By Claudia Farhart. |
