Colleen Boyle
Cannon Hill Anglican College
Colleen Boyle is challenging her students to push the boundaries of visual and media arts, developing innovative and fun units of work that even involve using Photoshop to create GIFs.
The Cannon Hill Anglican College teacher is known for using the practice of art to build confidence, resilience, and a strong work ethic in her students. For example, she has decorated the school’s art department with posters that encourage perseverance in the face of mistake-making. |
“She develops genuine rapport with students through warm and caring interactions, and gently encourages them to achieve their goals and exceed their own expectations,” colleague Jo-Anne Hine said.
It is the genuine care that Colleen shows for her students’ personal and academic growth that led her colleagues to nominate her for the 2017 QCT Excellence in Teaching Award. Determined to create authentic learning experiences for her classes, Colleen regularly organises art masterclasses, gallery visits, workshops and guest speakers to encourage and inspire her students. A tireless contributor to all aspects of her school’s community, Collen regularly gives up her own time after school and on weekends to work with students. Congratulations Colleen on your nomination.
