Calamvale Community College
An enthusiastic and dedicated Students with Disabilities (SWD) secondary teacher at Calamvale Community College (CCC), Claire Fountain uses creative ways to engage her students in learning.
Claire runs and initiates hands-on programs such as ASDAN Bronze Award programmes, Visual Art projects, Life Skills and gardening programs. Claire has also worked with an artist-in-residence and students from a neighbouring special school to plan, create and install mosaic sculptures within the College and is currently working on a Mural Art Project within the college with visiting International students from Taiwan and The Arts cohort.
A highly respected and active member of the CCC community, she is known for providing thoughtful, engaging and individual lessons and going “above and beyond” when advocating for her students.
Principal Lisa Starmer says Claire is an exceptional teacher both in her mentoring support and commitment to students with a disability and her artistic capability.
“Her use of art to discover meaning and success in students’ lives and her compassion for the challenges that disabilities create makes for an extraordinary teacher,” Lisa says.
Congratulations Claire on your nomination.
