Head of Sport Brady McGann has dedicated countless hours to creating a positive attitude towards sport, health and the importance of teamwork at Riverside Christian College.
As an active member of the Maryborough Zone for a decade, Brady maintains impressive extra-curricular commitments within the school community by assisting at all Maryborough District Athletics and cross-country regional events. He also dedicates his time to act as a Coach and Manager to the Wide Bay Region Under-12 basketball boys team, travelling across the state for the past twelve years to coach them through each game. |
On most lunch breaks at the college, you can find Brady at the basketball courts, encouraging students from Year 1 to Year 12 to get involved.
The past five years have seen Brady give up his time before school to train any student who want to improve their basketball skills, and Friday nights he coaches Riverside Basketball students from Under 12 to Under 18. When the college plays against other schools, Brady is there to make sure each game is a learning experience, from teaching patience to helping students understand that winning is not everything. Colleague Leigh Harrold says the games have done more than teach the students about fair play. “The results have improved the college’s representation within the community, not only through the improvement of skills and student support for each other but also through the teachable moments he has shown other local teams,” Leigh says. “This attitude has built students’ respect for each other and created an environment of fair play in our college and community.” Congratulations Brady on your nomination. |
