Belinda Hourston
Richmond Hill State School
Belinda Hourston is nurturing a love for reading and writing among her Preparatory and Year One students.
The Richmond Hill State School teacher stands by the motto of “if they can say it, they can read and write it,” encouraging all of her students to become successful emerging readers and writers. Belinda draws on a wide range of techniques to inspire her students, creating a learning wall of exemplary work and helping students craft their learning intentions. Her students can now speak confidently about their learning every day as a result. “This is indeed a credit to her and her marvellous contribution to nurturing growth in the early years at Richmond Hill State School,” Deputy Principal Lisa Pitt said. |
Underlain by her strong understanding of the importance of early education, Belinda’s teaching style aims to provide young children with the skills and knowledge they will need to be successful as they continue their journey through primary school.
Belinda has also shown a great commitment to her colleagues. She sets a high standard for her fellow teachers, gently mentoring them through her willingness to share her wealth of teaching and learning experience with anyone. With a calm dedication to her role as a teacher, Belinda acts caringly towards all students, colleagues and parents, and has become a valued member of the Richmond Hill State School community. Congratulations Belinda on your nomination. By Claudia Farhart. |
